Campaigns, audiences, and delivery

Create coordinated marketing campaigns, send email and SMS, schedule delivery, test content, and read results against CRM audiences.

Marketing Automation is a $49 monthly workspace add on. It activates the marketing family, including email, SMS, social publishing, sequences, and visual automation.

The Marketing area is organized around campaigns, channel specific deliveries, sequences, outreach, social publishing, and automation. Each route checks its own module access, so the Marketing home shows only the capabilities available to your account.

Open Marketing from the sidebar. The hub links to:

Create an umbrella campaign

Use Marketing → Campaigns when several channel activities belong to one commercial initiative. A campaign can track its stage and act as the parent for email, SMS, and social records.

Open a campaign to review its linked channel activity. When creating an email, SMS mailing, or social post, choose the campaign field to attach it. This prevents one launch from being scattered across unrelated lists.

Create an email campaign

  1. Open Marketing → Email or Marketing → Campaigns, then choose the email campaign action.
  2. Enter an internal name and the recipient subject.
  3. Add the message body and any media selected from the workspace media library.
  4. Choose an optional umbrella campaign.
  5. Define the audience.
  6. Save the draft, review it, then send or schedule it.

Sent and sending campaigns are locked against ordinary edits. This prevents the stored campaign definition from drifting away from the content recipients actually received.

Build an audience

Email audiences can use CRM data. The legacy audience builder supports leads, clients, contacts, or leads and clients together, with optional status filters. Current campaign filtering can also use the mailing list and recipient filter system where the composer exposes it.

Before sending, verify that the audience count matches your intention. An empty status filter means all records in the selected source, not zero records.

Do not send to a broad audience merely because it is technically selectable. Keep contact consent, suppression state, and the purpose of the list aligned with the message.

Schedule or send

A draft can be sent immediately or given a scheduled time. Scheduled delivery depends on the platform marketing dispatcher and the workspace's configured outgoing mail path.

The campaign list shows status, schedule, sent time, recipient count, and send count. A sending status represents an active delivery operation. A sent status represents the completed campaign lifecycle, while individual delivery failures remain visible in channel reporting.

Use subject testing

The email campaign record includes optional subject test fields. When the expanded testing controls are available, variants can have separate subjects and traffic splits, with an open, click, conversion, or revenue winner criterion. Variant percentages must leave a holdout for winner delivery.

Treat a manually selected winner as an explicit operator decision. Review the actual measurement period and sample size before using it as a permanent template choice.

Create an SMS mailing

  1. Open SMS Marketing.
  2. Create a mailing and enter its internal name and message body.
  3. Select a configured provider account and sender number when required.
  4. Choose target lists or filters.
  5. Keep the opt out link enabled unless your lawful use case requires otherwise.
  6. Save a draft, send a test to one or more E.164 phone numbers, then schedule or send.

SMS content is limited to 1,600 characters by the product form. Carrier segment counts and provider pricing can differ from the visible character count, so review the cost preview before a large send.

The SMS area includes delivery analysis, provider settings, and blacklist management. A destination on the blacklist must not be treated as a normal target.

Use these checks before every campaign:

  • Confirm the selected audience represents people who should receive this message.
  • Remove or suppress invalid addresses and phone numbers.
  • Keep unsubscribe and opt out behavior enabled.
  • Send a test before a large delivery.
  • Verify workspace mail or SMS provider configuration.
  • Review scheduled time and workspace timezone.
  • Link the delivery to its umbrella campaign when it belongs to a coordinated initiative.

Results and attribution

Email tracking endpoints record supported open and click activity. Marketing reporting can also show recipients, sends, failures, and linked campaign context. Social records can show impressions, likes, comments, and shares when the connected provider returns those insights.

Use these metrics as channel evidence, not as a complete revenue model. For a revenue conclusion, follow the contact through CRM, opportunity, order, invoice, and payment records.

Troubleshooting

Send is unavailable

Confirm the record is a draft, your account can edit Marketing, the audience is valid, and the required outgoing mail or SMS provider is configured.

The audience is unexpectedly large

Review the audience source and every status filter. Empty status arrays include all records in that source. Verify list membership and suppression before sending.

SMS test rejects a phone number

Use E.164 format, for example +17035550123. A test can contain at most three phone numbers.

A scheduled campaign has not moved

Confirm the scheduled time has passed in the intended timezone and that the campaign remains enabled. Then review delivery diagnostics and the campaign status rather than creating a duplicate send.

Marketing is installed but locked

Open Settings → Plan and Billing and verify the Marketing Automation add on is active. An installed compatibility module does not replace the paid entitlement.
